Find a podiatrist and check the record before you book
Podiatrists and foot and ankle practices registered in the federal NPI registry (NPPES), joined with CMS's Doctors & Clinicians file for Medicare enrollment, Medicare assignment, telehealth and group practice. In Texas we also show whether TDLR lists the podiatry license as current. Compare up to 3 side by side.

Common questions
What is a podiatrist?
A podiatrist holds a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree and is licensed by the state to diagnose and treat conditions of the foot and ankle. What a podiatrist may treat, especially ankle surgery, depends on state law. Check the license with your state's podiatry board.
Does a listing mean the podiatrist is board-certified?
No. The specialty is what the provider chose when registering for an NPI, and NPPES does not verify it, including the Foot & Ankle Surgery subspecialty. Check board certification with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery or the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
Does Medicare cover podiatry?
Medicare Part B covers podiatrist exams and treatment that are medically necessary for foot injuries or diseases, such as hammer toe, bunion deformities and heel spurs. It usually does not cover routine foot care like trimming nails or removing corns and calluses. People with diabetic peripheral neuropathy and loss of protective sensation can get a covered foot exam every 6 months, per Medicare.gov.
What does "accepts Medicare assignment" mean?
Per CMS's Doctors & Clinicians file, the podiatrist or group accepts the Medicare-approved amount as payment in full for covered services. You still pay your usual deductible and coinsurance. Confirm with the office, and if you have a Medicare Advantage plan, check that the practice is in its network.
Why do only some listings show a Texas license?
We show a license status only for Texas, where TDLR publishes a daily license file, and only when the license number on the NPI record matches a current license in that file. For other states, use the state board's license lookup.
Do you take fees for referrals?
No. Practices can buy a flat-fee featured listing, labelled as such. We never charge per referral, patient or appointment.
